Teachers
  • Mrs Leary - Head of English at Banovallum and has been teaching at the school for seven years. Her background is in Linguistics and enjoys all things language! Her favourite author is Iain Banks and poet is Simon Armitage
  • Miss Lord - English teacher at Banovallum and was new to the school this September. She has a degree in English Literature and her favourite authors include Kate Atkinson, Thomas Hardy and Sebastian Faulks. Her favourite poet is Carol Ann Duffy
  • Mrs Elliot – with a degree in Drama and a postgraduate year spent training as an actor Mrs Elliot’s passion is clearly for performance. As well as teaching English she runs Drama Club, the School Production and teaches the Drama Curriculum at Banovallum. This includes going on many exciting theatre trips each year.
    She enjoys reading, particularly historical fiction. She mostly enjoys teaching the literature side of the English course analysing character and motivation as well as language devices and choices selected by authors; although sometimes you can’t beat a good bit of non-fiction text analysing and walking through ‘A Forest.’
Students
  • Ellen - In Year 10. She enjoys writing stories and reads a lot. She also throws in random quotes from celebrities into conversation for no reason. Her overall favourite author is Edgar Allen Poe and her favourite book is 'The Book Thief'
